Meet Sebastiaan: Femto’s Newest Engineer! 

Please tell us a bit about yourself.

Hey, my name is Sebastiaan. I have been working at Femto for a little over a month now and am enjoying the work and the atmosphere here at Femto. In my spare time I enjoy climbing, scouting, and photography.

What has made you choose the field in engineering?

I do not think I have ever made that choice consciencely (expect for enrolling at the university of course), as far as I remember I have always been drawing, tinkering and building things. And, although my current professional focus is more on the analysis and evaluation of systems and flows, I do still design and create projects in my spare time.

What is your favourite aspect of the job? 

I decided to apply for a position at Femto, as it would allow me to develop my knowledge in the highly specialised field of computational fluid dynamics, applied in a very broad spectrum of applications and fields. The variety of projects and the challenges that come with simulating a wide range of flow phenomena are a great motivator for me. The nature of these projects also requires you to quickly develop a good understanding of what a client needs, and translating this into a practical simulation setup has so far been a satisfying exploratory process. I have come to enjoy the dialogue with clients, which is something that a few years ago I might not have expected. For the upcoming years, I hope to significantly develop my technical and soft skills at Femto Engineering.
