Introducing full-size CFD simulation in marine design
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is continuing to grow in use within the marine design process. The general practice is to run these simulations at model-scale to compare them at testing validation data. This case study examines the practise of running CFD at full-scale to explore the added benefits of full-scale design analyses under realistic operating conditions. Professor Milovan Perić, member of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen, explains how full-scale simulation proves to be more accurate and reliable, leading to a greater understanding of marine design performance.
